The specialists of our Centre use a variety of technologies and methods for performing surgical interventions. The surgical treatment of coronary artery disease can be carried out as balloon angioplasty with stenting, and multiple coronary arteries bypasses grafting using arterial and venous conduits.
Currently, the surgical treatment of stenosis of peripheral arteries is most often carried out by the endovascular method. The minimally invasive endovascular method has proven itself in immediate and long-term results. However, in some cases it is necessary to use the conventional surgical method.
When correcting valvular heart disease, we give priority to reconstructive surgery. We use various methods of valve-preserving: annuloplasty, chords repair or replacement, reefing, resection, leaflet prosthetics, etc.
If it is necessary to perform aortic valve replacement, we use an innovative method of leaflet prosthetics from auto pericardium, proposed by the Japanese professor Shigeyuki Ozaki. Today we have the most experience in our country and have already performed more than 700 such operations using this method.
The special attention in our Centre is paid to minimally invasive surgery. Minimally invasive cardiac surgery is an exclusive type of surgery that is performed by single clinics in the Russian Federation. Minimally invasive surgery of mitral and tricuspid valves, as well as mammary coronary bypass through the minithoracotomy with endoscopic harvesting of the internal thoracic artery, are placed on stream in our Centre. In 2018, for the first time in the Russian Federation, our institution performed mitral valve repair with 3D HD visualization. Currently, we have the greatest experience in performing minimally invasive operations with 3D HD visualization.
Endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms is one of the minimally invasive methods for treating aneurysms of the ascending thoracic and abdominal aorta. This operation is faster and less traumatic. The patient can be discharged from the Centre in just a few days. Depending on the clinical case, our team can perform a hybrid operation: debranching of aortic arch and the actual stent graft placement.
Transcatheter heart valves replacement is a method that appeared in the early twenty-first century. Previously, when replacing a valve, it was considered mandatory to use artificial blood circulation, in most cases, a large incision. Transcatheter implantation of a new valve is performed according to the same principle as vascular stenting, namely, under X-ray control without opening the heart cavities. Our Centre has the greatest experience in transcatheter valve prosthetics using the innovative domestic system «MedLAB-KT» that was developed in Penza at the ZAO NPP «MedEng» with the direct participation of our surgeons.
