Scientific and expert activities most consistent with the specifics of the work and the potential of the center on all the following data.

Annually our specialists perform more that 6500 surgeries on the heart which is one of the leading quantitative indicators in our country. This volume of interventions is provided by a whole team of experts in a variety of areas, cardio-vascular surgery, cardiology, and related specialties. The high qualification of specialists is confirmed by the fact that the share of doctors with qualification categories in the total number of doctors is 71%. At the same time, the share of medical workers with higher medical education, who have the scientific degree of candidates and doctors of science, in the total number of medical workers with higher medical education is 11%. The scientific substantiation of center’s activities is reflected in more than 600 scientific papers, obtaining 16 scientific patents and numerous authoritative publications in the foreign press. For example, the important advantage of the center is participation in international multimedia project «The Multimedia Manual of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (MMCTS) with the support of European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. As premier, online, step-by-step expert guides, several of our works by the Center staff were selected for this edition. It should be appreciated that MMCTS is a winner of awards from Interactive Media Council's Interactive Media Award for Best in Class in Medicine (New York, USA), awarded to multimedia editions for the best design, usability and content.

Specialists of the center are involved as experts for the development and approbation of high-tech medical devices. So, together with the techno park of high medical technologies employees of the center take part in preclinical study. As a part of this activity, experimental tests of stent grafts, transapical valves, mechanical heart valves, pacemakers and other medical devices are carried out. The result of this preclinical study is improvement of clinical approaches and after that the development of new innovative protocols. Our specialists perform all types of cardiac surgery, including stent-graft implantation and transcatheter heart valve replacement.

It is emphasized that the center is a leader in Russia in performing combined heart surgeries (more than 900 per year), an aortic procedure (more than 160 per year), as well as ranks first in Europe in performing Ozaki surgeries. Besides, the center has the largest experience in Russia in bilateral internal thoracicartery bypass grafting (70% сoronary artery bypass surgeries), left ventricular remodeling for LV aneurysms (1500 surgeries in 10 years of work that is the largest experience in Europe). In some areas, the center has the greatest experience in the country in performed interventions for children. For example, open aortic valve plasty in newborns and infants. Nowadays, the number of Ozaki surgeries performed on children is the largest not only in Russia, but also in Europe. Thus, the largest experience of our specialists allows considering them high-level experts in a number of scientific and medical fields. An expert assessment of the results in the center is also carried out on the basis of the introduction and use of special rating risk scales. Specialists are constantly guided in their work by a number of indicators, namely, risk score Euroscore I (в Европе не используют более), Euroscore II, Aristotle, RACHS-1, Syntax.

Thanks to the efforts of our team, the clinic has the priority of successfully carrying out a number of unique surgeries for citizens of our country, including those performed for the first time.
